Find Your Level

Initial Assessment

When you enrol on our online GCSE science course, you will begin with a short Initial Assessment designed to identify the level you are currently working at. This assessment provides a quick and reliable overview of your existing knowledge of biology, chemistry and physics, helping you understand your starting point before beginning your revision.

The Initial Assessment is designed to cover a range of core skills relevant to both the Edexcel IGCSE and AQA Combined Science: Trilogy specifications, allowing the system to evaluate your strengths and highlight areas that may require further development. By identifying these areas early on, the course can guide you towards the most appropriate starting topics and help you focus your revision where it will have the greatest impact.

Completing the Initial Assessment ensures that your learning journey begins in the right place. Rather than revising topics you already understand, you can spend more time improving the areas that will help you make the most progress and build confidence as you prepare for your GCSE science exam.

Personal Learning Plan

Topic Area Knowledge Assessments

As you begin working through the online GCSE science course, you will complete Topic Area Knowledge Assessments covering biology, chemistry and physics, as included on both the Edexcel IGCSE and AQA Combined Science: Trilogy specifications. These short assessments are designed to check your understanding of key scientific concepts, helping to identify which areas you are confident with and which may need further revision.

Your results from these assessments are then used to create a Personal Learning Plan tailored specifically to you. This plan highlights the topics where you would benefit most from additional practice and revision, allowing you to focus your time on the areas that will make the biggest difference to your overall progress.

By guiding you towards the topics that need the most attention, the Personal Learning Plan helps make your revision more efficient and structured, ensuring you are well prepared for your GCSE science exam, whichever specification you are sitting.

Personal Learning Plan

GCSE Science Exam FAQs

Can I resit my science GCSE privately?

Yes, you can resit GCSE science with Pass GCSE as a GCSE science private candidate. We will arrange everything for you and book you in at a local exam centre as a GCSE private candidate.

When can I sit a GCSE science private exam?

GCSE science private exams can be sat at two points in the year, with exams in May/June and November. The November sitting is only available for the Edexcel IGCSE exam board.

Since there are specific exam periods each year, this gives you lots of time to revise for your GCSE science exam. The Pass GCSE Exam + Course option would be your best bet to help you prepare for your exam.

Can I retake science GCSE online?

You cannot retake science GCSE online, or any other GCSEs. If you are looking to take your GCSE science exam online, then you will need to take a GCSE equivalent qualification, such as a GCSE Science Equivalency. You can sit an online exam for this.

Which exam board is your GCSE science exam with?

Our Science GCSE exams are with either the Edexcel International GCSE exam board or the AQA exam board. You can retake your exam as a GCSE science private candidate with either exam board.

Will I need to do any of the practicals?

The Edexcel IGCSE specification does not require you to complete any practicals. The AQA specification does require you to complete the practicals. Please decide which exam board is right for you before purchasing.

Is this the same qualification sat in school?

Yes, this is a GCSE qualification. Many schools use AQA for their GCSE Science exams, we use AQA and Edexcel IGCSE. We use Edexcel IGCSE as they do not require you to complete any practical elements for the qualification.

What is a Fast-Track GCSE science qualification?

A fast-track GCSE Science qualification with Pass GCSE lets you prepare for and sit your exam in a shorter timeframe than studying at school or college. Many learners complete their qualification in under 12 months, with some achieving it in as little as 6 months or less.

Can I revise for free?

Yes, you can start with free online GCSE science revision materials.
